A man has suffered life-changing injuries following a hit and run in Clapham.

Police were called to Clapham Common North at around 10.40pm on Sunday (July 16) to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

The driver of the car did not stop at the scene.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital for treatment where his injuries were assessed as life-changing.

There have currently been no arrests made and enquiries are ongoing.

A road closure was put in place at the junction of Tregarvon Road.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called to Clapham Common North at about 10.42pm on Sunday 16 July following reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

“The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene.

“One man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

“His injuries were assessed as life changing but are not believed to be life threatening.

“At this early stage no arrests have been made.

“A road closure was put in place at the junction of Tregarvon Road.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

A London Ambulance Services spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.41pm last night (16 July) to reports of a road traffic collision in Clapham Common North, Clapham.

“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene which arrived in less than six minutes.

“We treated a patient at the scene for a serious leg injury and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
