Man, 19, arrested after cyclist hurt in Clapham moped crash

A 19-year-old has been arrested after cyclist was injured in a crash after a police chase.

Police were on patrol at 10.30pm last night (July 20), when they attempted to stop a moped in Bedford Road, Clapham.

The rider of the moped did not stop and a chase began.

The moped later crashed into a cyclist in Kennington Park Road.

The cyclist was injured and was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service where his condition is being assessed.

The man's family has been informed.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving offences.

The Met says that as the collision took place after a chase, its Directorate of Professional Standards and the Independent Office for Police Conduct have been informed.
