A person has died after being hit by a train at a central London Underground station.

Police were called to a casualty on the tracks at Vauxhall station around 4.30pm on Friday (September 26).

Officers arrived with paramedics but a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Victoria line was partly suspended following the incident with severe delays.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Vauxhall Underground station at around 4.30pm on Friday (26 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. 

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
