Wimbledon is back for 2025, with the world's best tennis players taking to the grass courts hoping to emerge victorious.

The tournament started on Monday, June 30 and will conclude on Sunday, July 13.

Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova triumphed in the singles competitions in 2024 and will be hoping to repeat that success this year.

Some viewers may be interested to know what prize money is up for grabs, so here's all you need to know.

Wimbledon 2025 prize money breakdown for each round

Wimbledon will offer a record £53.5m total prize money in 2025, which is a 7.1% increase from last year.

The men's and women's singles champions will each take home £3m, with the overall fund for players in those draws being £38.8m (up 8.2% from 2024).

BBC Sport adds: "First-round losers in the men's and women's singles are guaranteed to walk away with £66,000 - 10% more than in 2024."

In terms of how it breaks down per round for the singles events, it is as follows:

  • First round - £66,000
  • Second round - £99,000
  • Third round - £152,000
  • Fourth round - £240,000
  • Quarter-finals - £400,000
  • Semi-finals - £775,000
  • Runner-up - £1.52m
  • Winner - £3m

Meanwhile, for the men's and women's doubles (per pair), the prize money per round is:

  • First round - £16,500
  • Second round - £26,000
  • Third round - £43,750
  • Quarter-finals - £87,500
  • Semi-finals - £174,000
  • Runners-up - £345,000
  • Winners - £680,000

For mixed doubles, the prize money is less in comparison, as per pair, the prize money for each round is:

  • First round - £4,500
  • Second round - £9,000
  • Quarter-finals - £17,500
  • Semi-finals - £34,000
  • Runners-up - £68,000
  • Winners - £135,000

Outside of those events, winners of the wheelchair singles events - men's, women's and quad - will each take home £68,000.
